Tata Indicom a popular telecom company in India has launched Tata Indicom Photon+ broadband service for technology enthusiasts and business users across India. Photon+ actually comes in the form of a USB device which can be plugged into the Laptop or Desktop to experience high speed broadband service. Tata Indicom claims the speed could reach upto 3.1 MBPS and this USB device can work anywhere in India by automatically switching over to non HSIA Coverage areas also.
The installation is quick and easy and this device supports Microsoft Vista and XP also. Initial setup would cost you 3500/- Rupees (approximately 70 USD). The device carries only 1 year warranty.
Instead of Photon+ they have another device ready for wireless internet access on the way. It is called Photon or Plug2surf whiz. The price of the device is quite low as compared to Photon+ and the claimed speed is only 153 kbps.

Hi I am from Hyderabad using TATA PHOTON PLUS. The connection speed is very very slow and it is worthless. I tried to use it in HYDERABAD – VIZAG – VIJAYAWADA – GUNTUR – ONGOLE and in none of the places it was working fine. DONT BUY IT.
Hi Friends, iam using this photon+ form the past 1month, the speed iam getting is aroung 1.5MBPS(browsing speed) and the down load speed is around 100 KBPS that means u can down load 1 MB file in 10-12 sec this is the max speed iam getting … dont think that 3.1 MBPS speed will be the down load speed its only browsing speed , for me 1GB file downloaded in 2hrs which is decent for a wireless device like PHOTON+, but live videos streeaming is awesome.. youtube videos u can see with out buffering , live cricket matches also u can see with out annoying buffering.

TATA PHOTON PLUS
It was really difficult for me to purchase it as the instrument itself was costing 3500 Rs. i bought it with lots of questions and fear in my mind. But now i found i took a right decision. it gives really goos speed may not be like mtnl broadband but fair enough. the download speed varies a lot but on an average a fair speed. i downloaded 180 mb file in 25-30 minutes. I took the ‘freedom at night plan’ with minimum rental 500rs and free from 10pm to 7am. if use it in day then 2rs/mb. But fair enough. as i mostly use the net at night. my bill never exceeded 600-700rs. Over all a good wireless internet service with good speed. Net disconnection problem is there. sometimes it get diconnected 3-4 times in 4 hr period. but most of the time get disconnected once on an average. But after restarting the PC again it will start working (though restarting PC is a frustating part). Customer service is fine. they have troubled me for bill, but after sending emails to their chief officer the matter is resolved and after that no trouble issues. Get connected within 5 seconds. thats amazing.
Go for it . the speed is good, the look and flexibility of the instrument is good. Bill amount is fine with me. No overcharging. Can pay through netbanking. Got rid of those wires. If i have to give points out of 10 i will give it 8.

I want to know if the Tata Photon Plus device can also be used as a USB storage device. I am unable to see the folder icon which usually appears when any storage device is connected to the computer.

i am from mumbai tata photon gives about average 500kbps download speed it doesnt
go above 1mbps upto 3,1 mbps as they say but it is not bad ok good for its kind

I got my photon+ activated in late june. I have 2 concerns with the device. Firstly I am not getting promised speed and secondly, if I use Photon+ device in one of the usb port of my laptop and unplug it , and then plug it again in the same usb port, I don’t get connection. To use again I need to uninstall and install it again.
I have changed my OS twice to check the compatibility and I checked with a different laptop too. But issue remains unchanged.My account number is 904503074. Please provide me the feedback.

Average speeds would vary and depending on various factors like number of simultaneous users,time of the day, web content, etc and vary in the range of 500kbps to 1Mbps (3) SEC 8089 model supports Memory storage drive – SD card up to 8GB which is not included and user needs to purchse it from any mobile store (4) Supports Windows 2000, XP, Vista32/64, MAC,selected version of LINUX OS (5) Supports Standard USB 2.0 interface………………..for any more help pls e-mail me with your problems.

Dont go for TATA Indicom photon whiz USB modem option. Its utter waste. WASTER OF MONEY AND TIME. To read a single mail , u need to wait for half an hour.
I am using TATA Indicom photon whiz USB modem.Its gives speed Like 15-20 kbps. But when In Speed Access Manager’s Rx: value getting down the download speed is  going less than 5 kbps.Then I reconnect the connection and it improves the Rx: value.
Is there anybody know how to fix the photon Whiz problems and improve the download speed  upto 30 kbps…………………………

I hve one suggestion…plse go for MTS MBLAZE..its an awsum new device. Speed is same as of tataphoton 3 mbps..n it is prepaid..so u dont have to burn ur pockets for extra bills and tax etc.

I am located at Kalyani( Pin 741235 ).I have taken a Photon + connection No.9280034170 . I am not getting a satisfactory service . Probably there is something wrong with the hardware . I have complained a No. of times , but the relief has been only temporary .The technicians who have visited are only keen to prove that everything is OK .But my connectivity is very unstable . Link with server gets broken frequently . I want to request for a change of hardware .

Please dont go for tata photon plus. I have used it at Hyderabad as well as in chennai. For a 185 MB file to get downloaded, I waited for 3.5 hours. Its speed is just 20 kbps when i download movies or mp3 files. I heard that bsnl 3g and reliance are good in speed. Atleast they try to keep up their commitments. I have been complaining tata for the past 6 months and they did not solve my issues. Its completely worthless using tata photon plus.
Their customer support is pathetic. I have had a couple of issues in last one month and the service is just pathetic. They took 20 days to fix the issue and i could not connect to interent for 20 days. Besides the speed is not as promised.
